Hoo Boy-
I'd almost forgotten about the old Pioneer Hoot. The end of the season will kind of do that to you. It's a lot like I'm still racing- at the end of the year you just put away the bike for a while and move on to other stuff. Just to quickly wrap up the 07 season- we provided equipment to the last two New England cross races, the Steadman and NBX GP's, sold some supaFan merchandise, survived the drive home (towing a 7000lb trailer in an ice storm is NOT fun) and hopped a plane to Kansas for Cross Nationals.
Cross Nat's was a bust- at least for me. After a year of breaking equipment all year it was time for the body to break. I must have sat next to the wrong dude on the plane, because I got the worst flu of my life in Kansas. Full on fever, delirium, night sweats etc. Ugh. Nat's has been thoroughly dissected on the old interwebs already, so I'll leave that alone. Besides, it's 2008 already.
Since the recovery from cross nationals it's been all eBay, all the time. Gotta pay the bills somehow. And if you think bike racers like to throw hissy fits on blogs, listserves, forums etc- I've got to tell you they have *nothing* on eBay people. Holy cow- you would think the sky was actually falling.... It makes the battle between the UCI and ASO look like a slap fight. For sure things are changing on eBay, but that's life- stuff changes all the time, you just deal with it.
Along with eBay we've been hitting up the bike swap circuit. Earlier this month it was the Stop Swap and Save down in Maryland, and next up is either the WNYMBA show out in Buffalo, or the vinatage show just down the road in Monson Mass. I'd love to go to NY, as it sounds like a big swap, but they're sold out of dealer tables so I dunno if that's doable at this point. We'll likely end up in Monson again- this was last years table:
Small but fun, and it is just down the road- somehow the 5 hour drives just aren't appealing yet. But we'll see how things go. That's it for now- one of the new years resolutions was to keep this thing more updated.. so cross your fingers!!
